A Different Kind of Design
The search for a designer can be grueling. Years ago you hired a designer to create a website for you business. A couple of years later you hired another designer, and another. You viewed it as a necessary expense. Your customers like attractive things and want to be wowed by the latest trends. The process can continue indefinitely and for some it does. It’s time to move on.
You don’t need a freelance who sells you a pretty site. You need a designer who will work with you, understands your business, your clients, and your goals. Design isn’t an expense. It’s an investment. Done right design can improve your business and your bottom line. It’s measurable.
Many people view designers as someone they have to pay to make their site attractive. They believe design is about creating pretty pixels. While they’re not completely wrong, there’s much more to modern website/app design than having an attractive interface.
I refuse to only design beautiful websites.
I believe doing research is necessary to create an effective website design. I never start a project before examining your business goals and your customer’s needs. Design is a quantifiable process that achieves predictable results. I want to help your business expand. Here’s how I work.
Design Should Help You Achieve Your Business Goals
One of the first questions I ask my clients is:
What do you want to achieve in your business?
Every design decision we make will be based on helping your business thrive. Your answer tells me a lot about where to go with the project. My designs are purposeful and measurable. The results we achieve can be quantified and will give you valuable information about your business.
Yes, they’re beautiful too!
Design is for Your Customers
It’s important that your design is representative of your business but it’s more important that your design is tailored to your customer’s needs. If you don’t know your customers how can you design for them?
Before I put any pixels on-screen I do research into your customers and into your business. First, I examine your competition. I compare your site, your social media presence, and your popularity with those of your competitors. Then, I interview your customers. I gather demographic data but the most important aspect is discovering their wants, needs, and desires. Finally, if you already have a site, I examine how your current customers interact with the interface.
Design Should Make You Money
Design is an asset, not an expense. A personalized website will make you money and last for a long time. This is because the design we create is based on the research we do specific to your company. Your asset is tailored around your customer’s needs and your company’s mission.
It can be accurately anticipated and measured. In turn, this requires you share your financial data and metrics. I need to be able to gauge the success of our work before moving forward. I keep strict confidentiality and I will happily sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
You Have to Commit for the Long Term
I do accept single projects but for designs to achieve the best results they need to be tested and modified over a period of time. Purchasing a new design and never testing it is a waste of money. A few tests and minor modifications over a long period of time is much more cost effective than paying for a new design every couple of years.
I Coordinate Everything
I’m a designer but am also a copywriter and a marketer. I am not a developer but I have a team of developers that build all of the sites I design.
For most projects, we won’t need to hire anyone else. I’ll take care of everything. If we do need to consult with someone else I’ll find and manage them. All you have to do is look at the proposals and choose what you like.
